This Privacy Policy explains how Benovi (“Benovi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services at getbenovi.com (the “Service”). Benovi is currently operated as a sole proprietorship by its founder; this policy will be updated to name the operating company once it is formed.
Important about health information. Benovi is a consumer advocacy and education tool. We are not a healthcare provider, health plan, or insurer, and we are not a “covered entity” or “business associate” under HIPAA. Information you choose to share with us — including details from denial letters, bills, or your health situation — is not protected health information under HIPAA. Please share only what you are comfortable providing.
Information we collect
- Account information — such as your name and email address when you create an account.
- Content you submit — the text, documents, and details you enter or paste so we can analyze a claim, decode a bill, or draft an appeal. This may include health-related and insurance information.
- Payment information — processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number; Stripe handles that directly.
- Usage information — basic technical and usage data (such as device/browser type and how you interact with the Service) used to operate and improve it.
- Local storage — we store small amounts of data in your browser to keep you signed in and remember preferences.
How we use your information
- To provide the Service — including generating analyses, decodings, and appeal letters from the content you submit.
- To create and manage your account and process payments.
- To send you service-related messages, and — only if you opted in — product updates, tips, and offers (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
How AI processing works
To generate your results, the content you submit is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) and processed to produce the output you requested. We send only what is needed to perform the task you asked for.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for them to perform their function:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Supabase — account authentication and data storage.
- Anthropic — AI processing of the content you submit.
- Vercel — website and application hosting.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data (see below).
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
- You can access or update your account information by signing in.
- You can request that we delete your account and associated data by emailing us.
- You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in those emails.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information; contact us to exercise them.
Children
The Service is intended for adults age 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected on this page.
